PROJECT: EXECUTIVE INTERN
Reports to: Lynne West (CEO)
Duration Commitment: semester minimum
Description of Project: In depth, multi-platform data research. Development and facilitation of grant calendar. Program development support.  Public speaking and agency representation opportunities. Other duties assigned as discussed.
Requirements: Interest in exploring BBSVC as a cohesive agency. Familiarity with Microsoft suite, Adobe suite, social media outlets, and basic design. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and problem-solve.  Takes direction well. Ability to commute to various meetings and activities/events.
Necessary Commitment: minimum 2-4 hours per week

PROJECT: MARKETING INTERN
Reports to: Alicia Brown (Marketing Coordinator)
Duration Commitment: semester minimum
Description of Project: In depth, multi-platform support of county-wide recruitment and program development.  Scheduling of basic social media, campaigns, trainings, workshops, etc.  Collaboration between BBSVC and other local agencies.  Online and data research.  Creation of collateral and familiarity with basic wordpress-based website updates.  Other duties assigned as discussed.
Requirements: Interest in marketing and outreach, and/or interest in social justice. Familiarity with Microsoft suite, Adobe suite, social media outlets, and basic design. Ability to communicate well.  Takes direction well. Ability to commute to various meetings and activities/events.
Necessary Commitment: minimum 2-4 hours per week

PROJECT: FUND DEVELOPMENT INTERN
Reports to: Karyn Hagy (Fund Development)
Duration Commitment: semester minimum
Description of Project: Develop and support donor engagement systems and outreach. Arrange and experience donor/network meetings and opportunities.  Data entry for engagement tracking.  Other duties assigned as discussed.
Requirements: Interest in agency development and communications. Familiarity with Microsoft suite, Adobe suite, social media outlets, and data entry.  Familiarity with basic wordpress-based website updates.  Excellent written and verbal communication.  Takes direction well. Ability to perform warm and cold calls.
Necessary Commitment: minimum 2-4 hours per week, some work may be done off-site.

PROJECT: EVENTS INTERNS
Reports to: Rene’ Solem (Fund Development)
Duration Commitment: semester minimum
Description of Project: Reports directly to the Director of PR to provide all special event-related support for the organization’s signature fundraisers. Will be responsible for organizational duties, promotional duties, event intake/data entry, solicitation, creative, and development. Day-of event opportunities available, but not mandatory. Other duties assigned as discussed.
Requirements: Ability to commute to Camarillo office.  Basic understanding of Microsoft and Adobe suites, especially excel. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Necessary Commitment: minimum 4-6 hours per week

PLEASE NOTE, FOR ALL INTERNSHIPS:

  • All internships are unpaid by BBSVC, unless specified.
  • A background check may be required.
  • An onboarding process as required by BBSVC includes application, orientation, and training.
  • Credit is available as per your school’s parameters and agreements.
  • BBSVC will assist interns in scheduling up to 3 informational interviews with external professionals in their chosen field of interest.
  • Students are responsible for tracking their own hours and providing all necessary paperwork to the BBSVC office at their interview/orientation.
  • The internship projects as outlined are subject to change, and students are welcome to propose their own items of focus at any time.
  • Interns may be removed from the program at any time, at the discretion of their supervisor.

PROJECT: COMMUNITY PROGRAM INTERN (BBSVC MAIN OFFICE – CAMARILLO)
Reports to: Monica Apodaca (Enrollment Specialist)
Duration Commitment: semester minimum
Description of Project: Intern would be responsible for supporting the community program match support specialists and enrollment staff, including collecting and summarizing observations for print. Analysis of different program reports, needs, etc. Connecting program participants with enrichment opportunities. May include the opportunity for site-based supervision, for the right candidates.
Requirements: Ability to commute to/from Camarillo office. Interest in exploring BBSVC as a cohesive agency. Familiarity with Microsoft suite. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and problem-solve.  Takes direction well. Ability to commute to various meetings and activities/events.

PROJECT: SITE INTERN AT FILLMORE HIGH SCHOOL
Reports to: Amelia Aparicio/Alice Rodriguez (Program)
Duration Commitment: Currently seeking interns for Fall Semester 2019
Description of Project: Assistance on-site and general support of classroom setting.  Light-to-moderate instruction of and curriculum guidance for Bigs and Littles, with some project development input.  Review of match development and interview intake.
Requirements: Ability to participate at various Fillmore sites. Excellent verbal and written skills.  Patience working with youth.  Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Understanding of youth risk factors.  Background check and child safety training provided by BBSVC required.
Necessary Commitment: regularly commit to specific day(s) and times (options available)

PROJECT: SITE INTERN AT SANTA PAULA HIGH SCHOOL
Reports to: Cindy Valdovinos/Gabby Ornelas (Program)
Duration Commitment: Currently seeking interns for Fall Semester 2019
Description of Project: Assistance on-site and general support of classroom setting.  Light-to-moderate instruction of and curriculum guidance for Bigs and Littles, with some project development input.  Review of match development and interview intake.
Requirements: Ability to participate at various Santa Paula sites. Excellent verbal and written skills.  Patience working with youth. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Understanding of youth risk factors.  Background check and child safety training provided by BBSVC required.

PROJECT: SITE INTERN AT BBSVC OXNARD
Reports to: Jessie Juarez (Program)
Duration Commitment: Currently seeking interns for Fall Semester 2019
Description of Project: Assistance on-site and general support of classroom setting.  Moderate-to-advanced instruction of and curriculum guidance for Bigs and Littles, with some project development input.  Review of match development and interview intake.
Requirements: Ability to participate at Oxnard site. Excellent verbal and written skills.  Patience working with youth. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Understanding of youth risk factors.  Background check and child safety training provided by BBSVC required.
Necessary Commitment: regularly commit to specific day(s) and times (options available)

PROJECT: SITE INTERN AT BBSVC SIMI  (SIMI VALLEY)
Reports to: Cassie Barthelemy/Jessie Juarez (Program)
Duration Commitment: semester minimum, full academic year preferred
Description of Project: Assistance on-site and general support of classroom setting.  Moderate-to-advanced instruction of and curriculum guidance for Bigs and Littles, with some project development input.  Review of match development and interview intake.
Requirements: Ability to participate at Simi Valley site. Excellent verbal and written skills.  Patience working with youth. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Understanding of youth high risk factors, and an interest in learning about the juvenile justice system.  Background check and child safety training provided by BBSVC required.
Necessary Commitment: regularly commit to specific day(s) and times (options available)
