Executive Team Bios

Lynne West
Chief Executive Officer

Lynne West has been the Chief Executive Officer of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County, for over 25 years. During that time she has watched thousands of children grow up being positively affected by having a mentor in their life. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County is the oldest, largest, and most effective youth mentoring organization in the country, serving over 900 kids and teens each year by providing quality mentoring programs to ensure they succeed in school, work, and life.

Ms. West is the immediate past President of the California State Association of Big Brothers Big Sisters Agencies. She has served on the Governor’s Partnership on Mentoring and as a consultant for the US Department of Education providing workshops and technical training and assistance to other mentoring organizations.

Ms. West has a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Long Island University and her professional background includes supervising a Crisis Center in Michigan, being on staff at the Detroit Institute of Technology, serving a private clinical practice with a specialty in co-custody issues for divorced parents, directing the Ventura County CASA program, an Independent Living Skills Program for foster youth, Supervised Visitation, and as an administrator of a group home for boys. She is the mother of two and a Big Sister to an emancipated foster youth.

Wilmer “Chip” Marvin
Board President

As Senior Manager of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) for Amgen, Inc., Chip leads EH&S program and performance management for the Thousand Oaks site. He also was Senior Manager, Corporate Engineering and Plant Engineer for the clinical manufacturing facility in Thousand Oaks.

Chip has fulfilled his belief in obligation to community service through his work as a Big Brother for more than 15 years in Missouri and California, an Advisory Board Member for The Center for Women In Transition in Missouri, a Study Group for Restorative Justice In Missouri, and Board of Directors member of the United Way in Augusta, Georgia. A Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County (BBSVC) board member since 2010, he is passionate about the benefits of BBSVC for young people. Chip and his wife also enjoy spending time with their godchildren and “adopted” children.

Scott Hansen
Board Vice President

Scott Hansen has been in the banking and financial services industry for more than 20 years. Currently, he is the regional director for the Westlake Village region of Wells Fargo Wealth Management, where he oversees the brokerage, investment management, trust, and private banking divisions. Prior to joining Wells Fargo in 2008, Scott worked at U.S. Trust, Bank of America Wealth Management for nine years, where he held a number of positions within the wealth management spectrum.

Scott earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of California, Santa Barbara and is a Certified Financial Planner. He also is involved in the Financial Planning Association of Ventura County, the Ventura County CPA/Law Society, and Provisors.

A member of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County board since 2009, Scott is committed to helping local kids in need. He also chairs the board of The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura chapter and serves on the Two Hearts Foundation. Scott is on advisory boards for the Ventura County Community Foundation and California State University, Channel Islands.

Married with three children, Scott is a volunteer coach with Ventura Foothill Little League Baseball AYSO District 39 and the Ventura Youth Basketball Association.

Eric Mandell
Board Treasure

Eric Mandell is a Senior Relationship Manager with American Business Bank, a boutique bank that caters solely to middle market businesses and their owners..

Within this role, Eric is able to draw upon his 25 years of commercial banking and finance experience to help clients with their strategic business objectives to help them expand and gain market share.

Eric has lived and worked in Ventura County for the past 16 years. During this time, Eric has developed strong relationships with the business community and successfully extended greater than $650 million in financing to help Ventura and Los Angeles county companies.

Eric has several published articles in the Ventura County Star and San Fernando Valley Business Journal. The articles address the challenges businesses face when looking to obtain credit, and business innovative approach when working with their clients.

Eric is a strong believer in giving back to the community and has served as past President of the American Heart Association, Board member of the American Cancer Society, a recipient of the “Volunteer of the Year” award from the American Cancer Society, and a long time board member of the Conejo Valley Little League.

Eric has been married for 20 years, has two teenaged children and has lived in Thousand Oaks CA since 2001.

Marya McFadden
Board 
Secretary

Marya McFadden is a family law attorney and mediator with a private practice in Newbury Park, McFadden Family Law & Mediation.  She helps families resolve legal matters such as divorce, child custody, and child and spousal support. Marya earned her J.D. from Pepperdine School of Law and her Ph.D. in English from the University of Southern California. Prior to becoming a lawyer, she worked as a professor of business communication at California State University, Northridge, for ten years.

A resident of Ventura County for most of her life, Marya serves on the board of BBSVC because of her commitment to giving back to the community that she loves and her belief that providing children with positive role models is one of the most important ways to do that.  She also serves as the chairperson and champagne sponsor for BBSVC’s annual Bags, Bling & Bubbly fundraiser.

Prior to her involvement with BBSVC, Marya served as the coordinator for the Santa Barbara chapter of the National Organization for Women and on the state board of directors for the organization. She also volunteered as a youth soccer coach and team parent.  She is the proud parent of two sons.
